Planning Your Perfect Victorian Kitchen

From your first, free consultation in our Dublin showroom, our founder and Creative Director, Mark McDonagh will use his extensive experience to guide, advise and inspire our clients.

During the initial consultation, Mark will learn about your wants and needs for the kitchen, your timeline, and your available budget. He will ask about the style of your home, the size and scale of your space, and any restrictions that must be accommodated such as exterior doors or windows. He’ll learn about your lifestyle and how you plan to use the kitchen as a family.

If you have pictures and dimensions of your room, or images of your “dream kitchen”, please bring them along to your initial consultation. We work very closely with our clients to achieve the perfect layout. and every detail is walked through including handles, taps, and the overall style our clients would like to achieve.

Mark is highly experienced and very creative, and he will usually sketch a high level design at this initial consultation which will have taken all key requirements into account. Mark will also provide an approximate budget for the project.

Planning Your Perfect Victorian Kitchen

If our client decides to move forward with the project, we proceed with development of a a formal and highly detailed AutoCAD (computed aided design) kitchen plan, incorporating precise style, dimensions and of position of kitchen cabinets, pantries or larders, islands, appliances, sinks, taps, lighting, worktops and finishes.

This detailed plan will even include features like door hinges, drawer handles or shelf dividers. If there is an architect’s plan, we will adapt to it but even without this we can work from your dimensions initially, and ensure that final measurements are taken before commencement of your project. This plan becomes the roadmap for your project, and is signed by Mark and our clients before the project is initiated. At this stage, a detailed budget and timeline will also be provided.

To begin working on any project, a 50% deposit is required from our client, with the completion payment due at the time of installation.

Producing your Kitchen in our Joinery

Innovative design and traditional craftsmanship come together during the production process.

Only the finest materials are hand-selected for every Victorian Kitchen Company project, and we use sustainably sourced wood for every kitchen and piece of furniture that is handcrafted in our joinery.

All kitchen cabinetry and furniture is assembled by hand in our own joinery, where our highly skilled team of craftsmen use the traditional techniques that we are renowned for, and which have stood the test of time. We use mortise and tenon and dovetail joints, and are very proud to be one of the last remaining joineries to retain and honour these traditional artisan skills.

Kitchen plans are rigidly adhered to throughout the handcrafting process. Once constructed, and painted, all finished projects also undergo a rigorous quality check before being carefully delivered to our client’s home.

Installation: Fitting your Victorian Kitchen
